All living things have needs that must be met if they desire their life to continue. Such needs range from the universal requirement for sustenance, to the more specific, such as the requirement of all higher life to sleep, or even the esoteric, such as the requirement of a pain demon to inflict suffering. The ability to exploit those needs is what separates, to pick a random example, a successful summoner from the shrivelled (but very happy) corpse that had, a few minutes earlier, conjured up a succubus with no plan of how to control her. The Cruithia Kingdom is well known by its neighbours (or at least, by the subset of them that aren't carbonised silhouettes) for exploiting such needs to bring a shining example of the world's apex predator under their control. For the past hundred years, anyone daring to encroach on the kingdom's territory has found themselves faced, very briefly, by a dragon. But perhaps 'control' isn't quite the right word, and it's that very dragon that the kingdom's betrayed crown princess is going to need to convince to aid her if she ever wants her position back. A creature of selfishness and pride, evil by any human standard, and yet occasionally steerable by those who know the correct levers. Not that convincing the dragon to help her take back her kingdom is her primary concern. That accolade goes to the need to convince the dragon not to eat her. Again. This is a short story (8 chapters/17k words) about a betrayed princess and an evil dragon. Neither has a particularly great time. Published here and scribble hub. If you see this anywhere else, it's stolen.

He lead a relatively simple life. He studied up until high school and went to college. He had pretty decent grades but he didn't overstep his boundaries, because honestly, he couldn't give a single shit. If it weren't for the games he played and the stories he had often read with really nasty characters that showed the true horridity of the human nature, he prolly already had killed himself off. The monotony that accompanied his loneliness was far greater than any piss-off-life-is-great person could understand. It was due to this that he had found solace in xianxia novels.

A vampire was destroyed in the city of Two Rivers. A News Paper article from the 13th of August, 1927 surfaced recently which details a freak accident in which many detectives go missing while investigating the case of Amber Foul. The paper includes snippets from one detective, Gray Becker's, side of the story. At first glance these writings seem to be nonsensical ramblings but perhaps there is some truth to this story? Affliction is a short story that intends to explore the psychological horror and existential dread that is central to the cosmic horror sub-genre. It follows the investigation of the disappearance of Amber Foul according to Gray Becker.

Tighyt Sasomac is a normal person on the world of Kantala. Sure, he's a powerful human, and basically the leader of a city, but a normal human, at least for his level during the current regime. He went to bed like any normal decade. He woke up on another planet. One named Earth. And there, no one has any idea about magic. So yeah, he's basically able to do anything he wants-but monsters lurk on Earth. As his large mana pool fills Earth, the threats to Earth grow. Maybe it isn't some slum where there isn't any magic after all... That's the story. Here's more of the technical aspect. So, most of you you probably know that isekai is one of the most popular genres on this platform. For those of you who don't know what isekai is, it's when the main character, a normal person from Earth, gets teleported to some other planet with magic. Progression type magic. This is a spin on isekai. Instead of the main character, an Earthling, getting teleported to some planet with magic, someone from the magic planet, with powerful magic, is teleported to Earth. I wouldn't exactly call the main character's powers magic, but super strength achieved through a magic system is close enough to magic (the MC is a melee fighter). That leads to all sort of funny scenes where no one but the MC knows about magic power. Until the MC uses his high-level mana pool to make Earth into a magic planet, combining Post Apocalyptic with isekai. High fantasy with low fantasy. All sorts of stuff going together that shouldn't have. This is ruling class, but it won't be dedicated to town-building (it's more "MC is so OP he can declare himself king of Earth because he feels like it and the natives are too weak to resist). Content warnings are mainly for creative freedom, but I'm going to keep it within boundaries. Sadly, I couldn't do a full sized novel, but I promise, my next story will be out soon, and much higher quality (more description). Plus, unlike my previous story, this is normal-in a good way. Here's what to expect: Longer chapters Character driven Decent grammar Consistancy

However even though the walls keeping her in are no longer visible, plenty of barriers are in the way that prevent Gemmei from returning to the world she once took for granted. Chief among them is the Houzou Hakkyou, a special tattoo every prisoner in the system receives that alters how they can think and feel through forced sedation. The curse the Hakkyou enforces ensures compliance and docility among the inmates, but as Gemmei finds out, cruelty is born from more than emotion alone.

A mixture of light and dark. A mixture of solemn and laugh out loud. A mixture of sci-fi and fantasy. There's something in here for everyone, but each story has something in common. They all begin in the real world - but each story has it's own distinct twist. Have you ever experienced the corrupted underground scene of high school conkers? Gambling, dirty dealings, blackmail? Ever met the girl of your dreams but wondered whether she's a vampire? Have you ever met a dragon... made of cake? If no is the answer to any of these questions, you ought to know what you are missing. Matty Millard's collection of short stories is not one to be missed. Featuring the prize winning short story "Weapons of Mass Destruction", placed first in the GKBC Inc 2013/14 competition by crime novelist Tim Weaver. I've taken the majority of the chapter down now as this is due to be published very soon, but Weapons of Mass Destruction is still there to be read. I will link to the published book soon!
