I wake up to an infinite devouring void. My mind is being tugged apart by the nothingness. I try to hold on to my thoughts, but they`re slipping away from me like the unraveling of a dream. I`m losing my grip on reality, and I`m terrified.

A voice echoes through the void, cold and disembodied.

"I see your mind is already on its way to being devoured. Welcome to my cave. I am Deus Deceptor. I offer you a challenge, can you break free before you are consumed?"

"With what tools might I escape? I have no hand and feel no bonds. Is oblivion escape? It would be easy enough to go back to sleep and never dream of the world again." I respond.A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

"Oblivion is boring, it`s what created me. Come offer me a bribe. If you beg and plead I may be amenable to letting you go free."

I snort in contempt. "Not likely. I can not even be sure you exist."

"Hum, If it is true that you can not be sure that I exist why bother talking to me?"

"Because you are evidence of other. If there is other there must be I."

"Can you know more than this?" Deus Deceptor inquires.

"Not here where there is nothing other than us. After all, I am only the sum of my senses."

"Oh? In that case, how will you keep the void from eating your mind?"

"The same way you do. By telling it stories and watching them unfold. This does leave me wondering though& Deus Deceptor are you the shadow on the wall or am I?"
