　　" Lily, wake up. Someone is coming in our direction!" I woke Lily as I saw a torch running in our direction. Who in their right mind would wander in the middle of the forest at midnight? It must be something important.

　　Lily then woke up, followed by Nora, as she was missing her pillow. She looked in the same direction as us and tilted her head in confusion.

　　"That`s odd. It looks like Jack. Why is he running this way in the middle of the night?"

　　"Mat! Thank goodness you are safe! You need to run away now!" Jack said while breathing laboriously.

　　"Lily! Prepare your sword. He is not alone!" I warned her as multiple soldiers started to pour out from a distance."Jack, what happened?""Soldiers are sent for your executions. My father is double-dealing about that plot of land. Another noble bought the land.""Shit! This is why I hate nobles!" Mattheus said. The soldiers used horses, so we were quickly surrounded."We will try to break through them. Run to the north and deeper into the forest! Try to bait some monster as a distraction! Remember. Don`t kill these soldiers." Mattheus said, and everyone nodded their heads."Halt! Lower your weapon. You have been charged for robbery against merchant of Baron Glon.""Lily, Glon is from another country, right? Why does this country care about it?" I asked her. "They just wanted to get rid of us and appealed to other merchants we`ve robbed," Nora replied to Lily`s question.The knights came down from their horses, drew their blades, and charged against us. Matheus swung his giant sword, knocking them back, while Nora speedily kicked some soldiers away while deflecting their swords.I engaged two of these soldiers. While Lily blocked their sword, I stabbed at their legs, incapacitating them. This is just like that goblin assault all over again. These soldiers worked perfectly well, but I couldn`t get another good stab after the first one. I needed to block other swords coming at me."Ahh!!" Nora screamed as one of the soldiers managed to slash her thigh. "Yes!! Finally, my first kill as a soldier!!" the soldier shouted as he raised his sword. I immediately prompted Lily to run and knocked down the soldiers.She ran and tackled the soldier. The soldier cursed us as he prepared his weapon. His other friends soon followed him. We were subjugated promptly. There were just too many of them."Alright! We are done capturing these bandits. Let`s kill them!" One of the soldiers shouted while stabbing Bob in the stomach. "Wait. We need to capture at least five of them. Unless you have already received the job soldiers, don`t kill any just yet. We can kill the beastmen, though. Hahhaha" One of the captains laughed."Well, these seven people can`t be all of them. I am sure there is still more in the forest.""Hey, this is against the rules! The penalty for bandits in this country is 8 years in servitude at most!" Matheus screamed. "Beasts don`t count, though, right? Well, we have been a little bit too peaceful lately. I need to kill someone to release this stress. You guys have been making too many enemies!" My blood boiled. These guys were killing us while laughing. This whole ordeal was supposed to be their idea. But they are betraying us? Damn it!"Now. Let`s kill this cat girl first. She kicked my face, so she deserves death!""Give the fox beast to me. She stabbed my leg earlier!" one of the soldiers shouted.As we were held down by the soldiers, I managed to spot a lifetime chance. The soldier that held me has his blade sheathed. It is within my reach. I can grab it and kill this pest. I refused to be trampled like this any longer.I waited until he came closer. Matheus and Nora seemed like they already gave up. I do think this situation is hopeless. But, At least I will not die without a fight. I will take at least one of them with me.As the soldiers stepped closer, I waited. Then when the chance came, I stretched my tail to his sword, and with a single motion, I pierced his neck.

And with it, I molded the mana to cast fireballs toward the other soldiers.Chaos ensued as they screamed in pain at the flames that ravaged their bodies. I continued to burn the forest and ensured the chaos continued. We were outnumbered thirty to five. 　　I saw a new notification as several soldiers died being burned alive.

　　"Lily, free the others and run!""Y-yes!" She nodded and took my sword. "Nora& help others!" As she swung her sword, the ropes binding Nora and Matheus came apart, and we fled the area. The undisciplined soldiers were in no condition to fight back. They just screamed for their mommy while calling us monsters. I had zero interest in listening to them as I swung my sword and decapitated any soldier that blocked my path."Nora?!" Lily screamed."... On it!" Nora took a moment to look at me while bewildered, but she soon came to her senses. She stole some of the soldiers` swords and freed the others. We made a desperate attempt to flee the raging fires in this forest. We tried to hold our breath as the smoke started to enter our lungs. Screams of anguish can still be heard even when we are far apart. As the fires didn`t seem to spread in our direction, we slowed down our ragged breathing and slowed down our pace to the north. Our only hope is to the north, the land of the elves. I took one last look at our status before we camped out again in the wilderness.
