  Magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death

  If God had raised his mighty hand

  and asked me where I had been

  at the beginning, before the genesis

  to ignore. It turns out that passing on

  clears the glassy mirror and the mind,

  revives the ancient senses and sight—

  We are more than meat.

  Because I see my body down below,

  and I am now above it all, above

  the cripple called fear and his rough-

  and-tumble friends, doubt and worry.

  And when there is no death to hate

  and hiss at, life beyond the body

  grows in great shoots and sparks.

  Although my body was on loan,

  the most powerful borrowed book,

  my self lingers and thrives, spirit-fueled

  and driven like the power behind

  a bucking hurricane or gale.

  I, too, shouted for joy at the

  foundations of being.
