Patreon Launch
Hi everyone!
When Dotblue and I launched paid support for the series, we initially settled on Wordpress as our platform of choice, mostly because it gave us more control over the content and formatting. We also bought a nice domain name, deadworldisekai.com. It seemed like a good idea, and a bunch of you have signed up, so it`s at least somewhat worked.
At the same time, we kept getting (valuable, respected) feedback that a lot of people just don`t like that format, and prefer Patreon. A larger group just doesn`t want to have their payment information stored in very many places, and having to use Wordpress made that problem worse for them. On top of that, Wordpress gave us quite a few technical issues that made everyone`s life worse.
Never let it be said we don`t listen. If Patreon`s better for people, even a few, we want to accommodate that.Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
In that spirit, we are launching our Patreon presence today, here. As of today, we are about 15 chapters ahead, and as a show of good faith, I`m writing three or four chapters a day, every day for the next two weeks. I had intended on taking some time and fleshing out the backlog anyway, and now seems like the time to do that.
The point of all this has always been to give you as much value out of the paid-supporter experience as we can, and any place we can streamline that or improve it, we will. We really appreciate the feedback, and we hope this helps.
Thanks again for your support, whether that`s as a paid subscription or just plain reading and enjoying our stuff. We appreciate you!
R.C.
Dotblue note: Our Wordpress is still going to be supported. Our long term goal is to not be reliant on a single platform and having our own website is a big part of that. It`d be nice to have fewer technical issues, but we care a lot about being able to connect directly with y`all. Now, if you`re interested in reading 15 chapters ahead, feel free to smack that button below.
