Epilogue (Erodicilee)
The enormous building was full of people, fresh smells, and unfamiliar sights.
Erodicilee stuck close to his mommy as she walked through the building, surrounded by those strange mechanical creatures. They smelled like the one he`d fought, and it made him hungry, but he resisted the urge to eat. Mommy had treats on her, and she`d give in soon.
Lots of creatures barked at him, and he stopped to let a few pet him. His tail wagged, and he looked up adoringly at his mommy. He`d not left her side since they`d returned from that strange world. She even let him sleep in the bed.
"I can`t believe they let you off house arrest to film this," a gray-skinned creature barked at his mother.
"What can I say? It`s a talent." His mother made that strange, rhythmic barking sound, and he joined in.
"Mommy!"
"Yes, dear. Mommy is here."
Erodicilee found himself lifted into the air, and he wiggled as she ran a hand through his fur. Others came forward, and soon he found himself beset with pats and affection. He loved all the attention he`d gotten lately. It reminded him of when they were in the small metal room. All sorts of creatures had played with him then, too.The author`s content has been appropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.
They`d bark at his mommy, and then he`d perform tricks or hunt small creatures. His favorite had been the creature with the same fur as his. They`d cuddled him and purred until he drifted off.
All too soon, he found himself on the ground again as his mommy talked to another creature. They were showing off different fabrics, some of which he recognized. They looked like the ones the hunters had worn. He growled at them.
"Aww, does my baby recognize them? They were nasty creatures, weren`t they?" His mommy barked softly, and the creature holding the clothes backed off. The mechanical creatures shifted, but he ignored them.
As his mommy talked to more people, his stomach rumbled. He tried to beg for treats, but she simply patted him. With that avenue cut off, he tried something else. Erodicilee activated his new ability.
To his nose, it was as though he now smelled of delicious meat that overpowered his normal scent. It made his hunger worse, but he ignored it. No one noticed, but the mechanical creatures twitched. A faint buzzing filled his ears, and a flying speck came into view. It was bright red and pulsing, and it dropped to land on his head.
In seconds, he created a spike and impaled the creature. Small tendrils shifted, and he chomped down on the creature. An explosion of instinct filled him, and he shivered in delight as his mouth burned.
Erodicilee barked in joy, even as his stomach continued to rumble. As he followed his mommy, he spent more time examining his surroundings as a question buzzed in his brain.
What else was there here to eat?
