  A Runemage`s primary stats are Logic and Intuition, affording those stat bonuses +5 beyond what the related stats would typically provide. Dexterity is afforded a +5 stat bonus due to sex.

  Every level Macarthy receives ~42 Physical Training Points (PTPs) and ~49 Mental ones (MTPs), as determined by stats. At lower levels its slightly less, at higher ones its slightly more. At level 18 Macarthy will finally rise above this average and will be receiving 43 PTPs and 51 MTPs that level. At level 24 MTPs will increase to 52, but that is beyond the scope of this book. Likewise, at level 28, PTPs are scheduled to increase to 44.

  Costs below are (PTP)/(MTP). This is for Runemages. Different classes have different costs and allowable trainings per level. The first training per level costs the stated cost. The second, or third, training, if available, costs DOUBLE, or, doubled again, QUADRUPLE. PTPs and MTPs can be converted to each other at a 2 to 1 cost. Points can be unconverted and reallocated, but it takes time. Days. I believe I settled on a time of 10 minutes per point.

  First rank.

  Read Magic: Increases understanding of all magical writing, granting the caster 5 additional ranks of the Arcane Symbols skill. Additionally, when casting from a scroll, reduces the penalties associated with casting from spell schools outside the caster`s sphere. Always active.

  Second rank.

  Runic Shield: Creates a magical barrier, imbuing the caster with the benefits of a shield as if one were equipped, increasing melee and ranged DS accordingly. Duration is 30 minutes per Runemancy rank. Effectiveness is further increased with more ranks in Arcane Lore, Shaping.

  Third rank.

  Rune of Accuracy: Enhances a weapon, increasing AS by up to 20. Duration is 20 minutes per Runemancy rank.

  Fourth rank.

  Rune of Deflection: Enhances armor, increasing DS to melee, bolt and ranged attacks by up to 20. Duration is 20 minutes per Runemancy rank.

  Fifth rank.

  Disjunction: Breaks down organic matter, crystallizing the energy. At 5 ranks of Arcane Lore, Decomposition, Disjunction may be used offensively as a warding spell. Effectiveness is further increased with more ranks in Arcane Lore, Decomposition.

  Sixth rank.

  Tracing: Allows writing on surfaces through skin contact. The spot chosen for writing is selected when cast. Recasting the spell will refresh the duration and a different spot may be chosen. Writing will disappear upon expiration or refreshing of the spell, or if willed to do so prior to expiration. Duration is 10 minutes per Runemancy rank. At 5 ranks of Arcane Lore, Transference physical contact with the object being written on is no longer necessary and range becomes 10 ft. Each additional rank of Arcane Lore, Transference increases the range by 1 ft.

  Seventh rank.

  Rune of Mending: Restores up to 50 lbs of nonmagical objects to full durability, but reduces the overall durability of the item(s) by half of the amount restored. Can also be used to staunch bleeding and recover very small amounts of Health, but drains a portion of the target`s Stamina to do so. Both durability and Stamina costs are reduced with more ranks of Arcane Lore, Shaping.

  Eighth rank.

  Copy: Duplicates a nonmagical object, up to 3 lbs in size. Each cast of the spell incurs a cooldown, the length of which depends on the nature of the item copied. Chance of success is increased with more ranks of Arcane Lore, Transference.

  Ninth rank.

  Rune Trap: Triggers when the affected area is touched by anyone who is not the caster. Completely immobilizes the target, the duration of paralysis is dependent upon the degree of warding success. Maximum area affected is 9 sq ft on a surface or 9 cu ft for an object. The affected area is visible to the caster, but can also be detected by others via magical, or other, means. Duration is 10 minutes per Runemancy rank. At 1 rank of Arcane Lore, Decomposition, the target will also suffer Mana and Stamina damage, which further increases with additional ranks of Arcane Lore, Decomposition.

  Tenth rank.

  Infuse: Allows the caster to recharge magical items. Chance of success is increased with more ranks of Arcane Lore, Transference.

  Eleventh rank.

  Carve: Causes the caster`s hands to harden into sharpened claws. Adds Brawling ranks equal to the caster`s Runemancy ranks. Attacks made with the claws have up to a +40 AS. Attacks cause piercing or slashing damage. While active causes the duration of all runes activated to be increased to twice the normal duration. Duration is 1 minute per Runemancy rank.

  Twelfth rank.

  Rune of Focus: Enhances a worn item, increasing CS by up to 20. Only one such item will apply this bonus when worn. Duration is 20 minutes per Runemancy rank.

  Thirteenth rank.

  Rune of Warding: Enhances a worn item, increasing TD by up to 20. When hostile spells are successfully warded the enemy caster suffers a backlash, suffering minor mana and stamina damage. Only one such item will apply this bonus when worn. Duration is 20 minutes per Runemancy rank.

  Fourteenth rank.

  Runic Circle: Draw a series of runes around the perimeter of an area. There is no set dimension or shape, but larger areas will take longer to create. While inside the area members of the caster`s group will have their success chance for every action increased slightly. Duration is 30 minutes per Runemancy rank. At 10 ranks of Arcane Lore, Transference members of the caster`s group will also regenerate a minor amount of health, stamina and mana every five minutes while in the area.

  Fifteenth rank.

  Reshape: Allows the caster to alter the physical dimensions of an object. Through this process matter is neither created nor lost, but the density of the object can only be very slightly changed. Duration is one minute per Runemancy rank. The base amount of material affected is 20 lbs, which can be further increased with more ranks of Arcane Lore, Shaping. At 10 ranks of Arcane Lore, Decomposition the density of the object can be altered to a much more significant degree. Will only affect non-living objects.

  Sixteenth rank.

  Animate: Allows the caster to control of up to 50 lbs of inorganic matter. Duration is 5 minutes per level. Maximum size of the object animated is increased with each rank of Arcane Lore, Shaping. With 20 ranks of Arcane Lore, Shaping and 20 ranks of Arcane Lore, Transference, and an appropriate vessel, the caster may create a permanent golem under his or her control. Only one such golem can be in existence at a time.

  Seventeenth rank.

  Erase: Can remove hostile physical spells from friendly targets or cleanse cursed items. Failure may result in the target or item being damaged. Can also be cast offensively as a warding spell. Effectiveness is increased with more ranks in Arcane Lore, Decomposition.

  Eighteenth rank.

  Engrave: Allows the caster to permanently enhance weapons with a Rune of Accuracy, armor with a Rune of Deflection or a worn item with a Rune of Focus or a Rune of Warding. Chance of success is increased with additional ranks of Arcane Lore, Shaping. When attempting to enchant magical materials a significantly greater degree of preparation for the item is required, and the chance of success lower.

  Nineteenth rank.

  Symbol: Energizes the caster and nearby group members. Duration is 10 seconds per Runemancy rank. Duration is further increased by 10 seconds per rank of Arcane Lore, Shaping. Range of effect is increased with more ranks in Arcane Lore, Transference. At one rank of Arcane Lore, Decomposition, all non-allies in range are subjected to periodic stamina and mana drains. This effect will occur more often with more ranks of Arcane Lore, Decomposition. Upon expiration the caster suffers 2 points of spirit damage.

  Twentieth rank.

  Teleport: Instantaneously moves the caster and all gear held or worn to an unoccupied location within 7.5 ft of the caster. Each rank of Arcane Lore, Transference increases the range by 0.5 ft. With 20 ranks of Arcane Lore, Decomposition and 10 ranks of Arcane Lore, Transference, a creature or object within range may instead be the target of the spell, or the caster may opt to swap places with a creature or object within range.
