Chapter 47: The Spoils of War

Just how was it that Silas was able to pick off the Visoreds?

No one would have been able to accomplish his feat. As it wasn`t that his spiritual pressure far exceeded their combined, it was that he knew almost everything about them.

In the world of Bleach, one`s spiritual power could dictate the outcome of a battle. Silas, who had been through numerous struggles and near-death experiences, had become a formidable adversary with immeasurable spiritual powers. Each time he came close to dying, his powers were always increasing.

Then there were his opponents. Hardly anyone knew what he was capable of. Unlike them, Silas understood what weapons everyone in this world used. From their release commands to their abilities, nothing could truly catch him off guard.

Now that the Visoreds were slain and their ZanpakutMs confiscated, Silas ensured that no evidence of what occurred here tonight could be traced back to anyone. He was, after all, still in the past. That meant characters like Kisuke Urahara may one day wish to get in contact with them.

But as far as Silas was concerned, the events that would unfold several years from now were likely not going to change. And if that was the case, that meant he could still go after his prize: the HMgyoku!

Without making haste, Silas ventured into the clouds in search of lost Souls.

The first one he found was located on the outskirts of the town. Ironically, it was in the area where Uryk and him would train a few years from now.

The Soul resembled a man in his late fifties. Judging by his appearance, he seemed to have died of sickness. Silas landed right behind him, only to frighten the Soul.

While the Soul tried to speak to question him, he wasted no time in pulling out a Visored`s ZanpakutM and performing a soul burial. Light pulsed from the ground and consumed the Soul.

Two things were confirmed here. The first was that he was able to use other ZanpakutM, whose wielders died and the ZanpakutM`s spirits were subjugated by Silas`s overwhelming spiritual pressure. The second was that he gathered the one thing that could help him return to the Soul Society: a black butterfly!

Silas immediately grabbed it by its body and subdued it. Feeling out whatever made this thing tick, he tried to form a connection from the world of the living to the Soul Society. A link was formed, so he pulled out Zangetsu and opened a Senkaimon.

Silas himself wasn`t sure whether this would work or not. But after spending so much time with Shinji, it was worth trying. Even if this little stunt hadn`t worked, he had more than one way to traverse back to the Soul Society.Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings.

There was Kisuke`s Senkaimon, which he had a plethora of ways to cease. Then there were other Senkaimons, like the ones the Bounts used during the filler arc. And if all of these failed, he would simply train his spells like Tessai in order to traverse different worlds.

When the gates to the portal opened, Silas casually stepped inside. The light engulfed his vision. And the moment he opened his eyes, he could already sense his body taking in all of the spirit particles.

It was broad daylight; there was hardly a cloud in the sky. The air here felt refreshing, and there wasn`t anyone in sight to impede his long-awaited moment.

The ground crunched beneath his shoes as he walked to enact his plans. What were these plans per se?

First things first, he needed to get a better understanding of where he was at. Somewhere he was definitely not in was the Seireitei. More than likely, he was in the lower parts of the Rukongai.

Walking a bit forward, he kept his senses up until he stopped by a river. The flow of the water was gentle, so he knelt down and took a drink. When he finished, he continued to traverse to the nearest town.

Something gnawed at the edge of his heart. The feeling was akin to a prickly touch. And he knew what was causing it: EnrakyMten trying to take his life again.

That old spirit had been waiting for the opportunity for him to return to the Soul Society to tighten its grip. But Silas wasn`t careless. He was still in his Gigai, able to slow down the spirit`s attempts.

These things wouldn`t matter for long.

After walking several more paces, Silas located a docile town. There were a few children wearing ragged clothes running around in the streets. When they saw him, they marveled at the outfit he was wearing.

Then he disappeared. The last thing he needed was reports of a modern Soul roaming around the Rukongai. That could attract a Soul Reaper or alert someone from the Seireitei.

Using the shadows to his advantage, he moved from house to house until he discovered what district he was in. The Rukongai was divided into three hundred twenty districts, eight of which correlated with the four cardinal directions. The district Silas was in was none other than the third district located in West Rukongai.

This district was the same district that Kaien Shiba trained Rukia Kuchiki in. There was an iconic area here known as Mt. Koifushi.

But Silas could care less about that minor pedantry. There was actually a district nearby that held a place he had his sights set on. Taking to the skies, he jetted to that district, district one.

District one was a special district. Because it was the first district, Souls here had a lot of privileges. The higher the district, the more affluent the Souls were. Characters like TMshirM Hitsugaya and Momo Hinamori once resided here.

If Silas felt like it, he could likely locate them, depending on the time period he was in. But characters like that weren`t of his interest.

He stopped high above the district and peered down menacingly. The sun cascaded down on him, creating a shadow over his entire body. Only his illuminated eyes could be seen.

His brows furrowed as he tried to scan for exactly what he was looking for. Unable to find it in the town district itself, he narrowed his senses to the forest.

There, he distinguished it—the one thing that would help him secure the HMgyoku: Kisuke`s laboratory!
